African vibes in North Holland

We experienced a touch of Africa in Middenbeemster, a small village in North Holland, the Netherlands. At Susanneโ€™s home parish, the annual outdoor Mass that opens a week of celebrations was held this time with vibrant โ€œAfrican vibesโ€ โ€” complete with drums and beautiful songs (including one in Swahili!). A dedicated group lovingly sewed more than 300 colorful scarves from African fabrics, gifting each visitor with this warm gesture of welcome.

The theme of the Mass was harvesting. When life is difficult or the world around us seems bad, we may be tempted to fall into despair, yet if we look closely, there are always sparks of hope around us. These small sparks can spread, grow, and create something truly beautiful. The message was clear: never give up, but seek hope and community.

The collection from the Mass was generously donated to our Work&Shop Creative Center, and we deeply thank everyone for their support. Asante sana!

What you sow, you will harvest.
What you radiate, you will attract.
What you give, you will receive.
What you believe, you will achieve.
